Rosie O'Donnell may be the Queen of Nice, but she's got nothing on Mike Douglas. In this benign trip down memory lane, the ever-cheerful host of The Mike Douglas Show — whose daily 90-minute chat-fest predated Merv Griffin's — spews forth affable anecdotes about the impressive parade of performers, athletes, politicians, and civil rights leaders (including Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X) who shared his stage from 1961 to 1982, when he was abruptly replaced by a younger John Davidson (whose show was canceled months later). Douglas doesn't have anything bad to say about anyone—except today's daytime gabbers, like Sally Jessy Raphael (''Why does this woman have a talk show?''), Ricki Lake (''too shallow''), and the ''chilling'' Jenny Jones.
