HOW TO LIVE A SITCOM LIFE: A GUIDE TO TV ETIQUETTE
Mark Bennett
(TV Books, $23.95)

If there was ever a watertight argument that there's such a thing as too much television, it would be this unfunny primer by Beverly Hills postal worker and artist Bennett. Purportedly a satiric guide to living one's life as a character from TV land -- using I Love Lucy, Roseanne, and Sanford and Son, among others, as springboards for discussion -- the tome contains such get-a-life observations as ''Frederick Hobart Mertz once lived in Steubenville, Ohio.'' At best, Sitcom Life is a nudge-and-wink guide for obsessed TV trivia buffs. At worst, it's just plain sad. C-
