DUDLEY DO-RIGHT (1999)
Credits
Writer-director Hugh Wilson (who also teamed with Fraser for Blast From the Past) worked to make his take on the Jay Ward cartoon funny, but the relentlessly flat gags make it feel more like a series of college comedy skits than a cohesive film. Neither Fraser, Parker, nor Monty Python vet Eric Idle can inject amusement into jokes involving flatulence, loose floorboards, and hits to the groin. Only Alfred Molina, mmmwa-ha-hamming it up as Snidely Whiplash, seems to be enjoying himself. REEL GOODIES (0:41) There's no good reason to have Fraser, Parker, and Molina perform this bizarre, Big Musical dance number -- but it's a weird little treat. THE LAST DETAIL Next up in the Ward oeuvre: this July's The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, which stars Method man Robert De Niro as Fearless Leader. C-
