OXYGEN (2000)

A kidnapper with a Harry Houdini complex (Brody) buries a society matron alive, giving her moneybags hubby 24 hours to come up with the ransom before she runs out of air. Tierney, as a cop with a secret masochistic streak, forms a claustrophobic interrogation-room connection with the psychopath while the two play cat and mouse over the victim's location. ''Think like me,'' he taunts after discovering a series of cigarette burns on her arm. ''Think like you.'' Creepy. REEL GOODIES (0:54) Dylan Baker (Happiness) tries to scare Brody straight with a gruesomely accurate description of death by lethal injection. THE LAST DETAIL This is the third pairing of Tierney and writer-director Richard Shepard, who also worked together in 1992's The Linguini Incident and 1996's Mercy. B-
