What Ever Happened To...

Demi Moore

Ah, the Passion of Demi Moore — so mysterious, so sublime, so...delayed. Passion of Mind, Moore's return to the screen after 1997's G.I. Jane, was delivered in June 1999, but bumped from the schedule last fall. Why keep a Moore movie on the shelf? According to Paramount Classics coprez Ruth Vitale, the studio feared the drama about a woman who switches identities in her dreams would get lost in the holiday-movie competition. Vitale hopes Passion's anticipated Memorial Day weekend slot will be ''counterprogramming'' against that weekend's other star-driven pic, Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible 2. Meanwhile, Moore is trying to put the personal troubles of the last two years (including her mother's death and her separation from Bruce Willis) behind her and get back to work. ''She doesn't have anything that she wants to announce,'' says her publicist, Pat Kingsley. ''But she'll be deciding between a couple of projects in the next month or so when she returns to L.A.''
