Whatever Titus' fate in the Oscar race and at the box office-- in limited release, it has grossed nearly $700,000 so far--Taymor has plans to continue alternating between stage and screen. In April, she'll revive her Off Broadway production The Green Bird, a commedia dell'arte fairy tale, in a Broadway theater. She's also keen to adapt several other past theater pieces into movies, including the opera The Flying Dutchman and The Transposed Heads, taken from the Thomas Mann novella about a woman in love with two men--one brainy, one brawny--who have their noggins switched but don't end up creating one ideal husband.
"It's such a great love story," Taymor raves. "Best one I ever heard." Spoken like a true Disney girl.
