JOHN DIGWEED
Age 32
Claim to Fame On the cusp of Fatboy
Slim-type ubiquity.
Why Two decades after first breaking out the
decks, the U.K. native draws blocks-long crowds to U.S.
nightclubs whenever he spins. The Sundance smash Groove,
scheduled for a June release, is predicated on his arrival at a
San Francisco rave (his cameo provides the film's climax, but
Digweed claims he's ''the only person who hasn't seen it''). DKNY
is considering ''Heaven Scent,'' from his 1999 solo album,
Bedrock, for a new TV spot. And as if all that weren't enough,
Amazon.com lists Bedrock's progressive house-trance as a top
seller among U.S. Navy personnel. ''That's a bit bizarre,''
Digweed laughs when told of his seafaring fans. ''I'll have to
look that up.''
