THE BROKEN HEARTS LEAGUE How do you sell a romantic comedy about a bunch of gay guys (including Dean Cain and Timothy Olyphant) who play together on a weekend baseball team? Push the sports angle! Thus, Screen Gems has morphed The Broken Hearts Club, the debut feature from 27-year-old Dawson's Creek coexec producer Greg Berlanti, into the more ESPN-friendly Broken Hearts League. BOTTOM LINE It may be a tough sell, but the film's three standing ovations at Sundance are a good sign.
THINGS YOU CAN TELL JUST BY LOOKING AT HER Holly Hunter, Cameron Diaz, Calista Flockhart, Glenn Close, Valeria Golino, Amy Brenneman, and Kathy Baker star in five intertwined stories about the lives of women. This Sundance sweetie was set to come out in April, but the release of Rodrigo Garcia's screenwriting and directorial debut continues to be shuffled by MGM. BOTTOM LINE Great cast, misguided release timing. But it'll play really well on Lifetime.
