Lead Performance: Neil Young (Musician)
B+
Never one to be musically complacent, Young throws a curveball with this slight but lovely set of songs about, well, contentment: accepting the past, taking comfort in longtime love, reminiscing about family, arriving home after a tour. It's Young at his gentlest and sappiest, but he's wed those sentiments to his prettiest tunes since Harvest Moon, whose muted acoustic format this recalls. The larger life mystery he doesn't address: How can a 54-year-old still sing in such a sweet tenor? B+
