Lucy Crocker 2.0 (2012)

EW's GRADE
B

Details Writer: Caroline Preston; Genre: Fiction; Publisher: Scribner

Caroline Preston's Lucy Crocker 2.0 focuses on former children's librarian Lucy Crocker, famous for inventing Maiden's Quest, a nonviolent computer game that resuscitated her family's software company. But the next version is overdue and Lucy hasn't come up with much, to the dismay of her CEO husband, Ed, who is in the clutches of tantalizing marketing maven Ingrid. Sick of the whole situation, Lucy escapes to Wisconsin, forcing her teenage, Internet-addicted twin boys into a four-week canoe trip at her old summer camp and ensconcing herself in her late father's abandoned cabin, where her first boyfriend — surprise! — turns up just across the pond. Did we say surprise? There is none, but that doesn't make Lucy's quest to take charge of her life any less enjoyable. B
