Vine Line and Wrinkles

Roman Coppola's new skin care line -- Francis Ford Coppola's son's products tap the Napa Valley vineyards for their anti-aging effect

Call him the Godfather of grapeseeds. Roman Coppola (son of Francis Ford) has found a new use for the stuff that enables wine to age gracefully. After the media began reporting the anti-aging benefits of grapeseed oil, Coppola and some of his Napa Valley, Calif., pals created a skincare line called Uvavita (''grape life'') using seeds from, among other vineyards, papa's Niebaum-Coppola Winery — what a coincidence. Roman's sister, Sofia, likes the Exfoliating Dead Sea Mud Mask, as does The Practice's Marla Sokoloff, while Claire Forlani (Meet Joe Black) can't get enough of Night Nourishing Cream. Uvavita, which launched last September, can be found at swanky stores like Fred Segal in L.A. and NYC's Henri Bendel, as well as at Sofia Coppola's clothing store, Heaven 27, and on the Web. The skincare line is a bit of a departure for the 35-year-old Coppola, better known as a director (he's created music videos for Fatboy Slim and Wyclef Jean). ''I have to confess, I'm not a real expert on face creams and stuff,'' he says. ''But my other partners have definite opinions, especially the girls.''
