The Ride Down Mt. Morgan (1998)

EW's GRADE
B

Details Lead Performances: Frances Conroy and Patrick Stewart; Writer: Arthur Miller; Director: David Esbjornson

One-liners, dream sequences, and panty jokes? Naturally, it's an Arthur Miller play. But The Ride Down Mt. Morgan, the tale of a self-satisfied bigamist (Patrick Stewart) and his crumbling kingdom, has the guts of Salesman, the pious pitch of The Crucible, and a seriocomic identity all its own. Stewart is both despicable and immensely attractive; as his dueling wives, Frances Conroy and Katy Selverstone score with two of Miller's juiciest female roles. B
