Wake Up and Smell the Coffee

EW's GRADE
B+

Details Lead Performance: Eric Bogosian; Writer: Eric Bogosian

In his hilarious new one-man show Wake Up and Smell the Coffee, Eric Bogosian comes off as a manic-depressive Seinfeld, right down to the airplane jokes — though Bogosian is less concerned with free peanuts than he is with the fate of Western civilization. In the first 20 minutes, he plays Bill Clinton, Jesus Christ, the devil, and a Deepak Chopra-type who believes that ''alienation is simply a lack of money.'' But mostly, Bogosian plays — and skewers — himself. The overall theme of the evening: Ambition, what is it good for? B+
