You're in an after-hours club, the music all throbbing bustle, when suddenly morning breaks and sunlight streams into the venue. Such is the effect of Japanese DJ-remixer Tomiie's first album, which opens with jittery tribal beats (sung by Sneaker Pimps' Kelli Ali), moves through drum-and-bass and jazz-fusion-rooted electronica, and culminates in elegant techno-soul featuring ex-Goldie belter Diane Charlemagne. Full Lick is mostly music for headphones, not dance clubs, but it nevertheless brands Tomiie as a rising son. A-
