The urban-hell-themed opening montage of www.hitmusic.com recalls Seven. The smarmy host is lifted from You Don't Know Jack. Is there anything original about this all-frills Top 40 audio and video channel? Try the Audio Mixer, which lets you tweak the percentage of pop, rock, and R&B in your streaming mix of the site's 2,000-plus songs (if you believe these rapidly converging genres can actually be differentiated in the first place). As for the videos on demand (from the likes of 'N Sync and Natalie Imbruglia), the QuickTime downloads are sluggish, so sit back and enjoy the Gotham-in-decline design, which is certain to delight the suburban demo this site targets.
