Simply Divine (2012)

EW's GRADE
B

Details Writer: Wendy Holden; Genre: Fiction; Publisher: Plume

A modern-day fairy tale with a blond bombshell masquerading as the blissfully unaware godmother, Simply Divine is a pun-a-minute read. Working at a glitzy magazine called Gorgeous, plucky heroine Jane gets a nightmare assignment dumped in her lap: ghostwriting a column by It Girl Champagne D'Vyne. Champagne sports an ''exuberant bust...and astounding vacuousness'' and is given to jaw-dropping statements like ''I'm just not an outdoor type of girl. The only hills I care about are Beverly.'' Consider Holden's delightful first novel a cool, iced, caffeinated latte in book form, ideally consumed while lolling on a beach chair. B
