A fourth film version of the Anna/King of Siam story wasn't an intrinsically bad idea. But this one, Anna and the King, foolishly digresses from the usual romantic culture clash, adding some bloody border-war violence, an absurdly action-packed Anna-saves-the-kingdom climax, and a dopey end-credits love theme that must have Rodgers and Hammerstein spinning in their graves. But it's still an opulent eyeful even after being formatted to fit your TV. C
