Barry Levinson goes back to the Baltimore well for the fourth time, following the fictional Kurtzman family as they grapple with civil rights, alcoholic WASPs, soul-music appreciation, Jewish identity, and assorted other '50s flotsam. Sweet-hearted, if a little contorted, Liberty Heights is the cinematic equivalent of comfort food simple, formulaic, and slightly overdone. B-
