Ambition is a mortal sin for a teen act, and the three adolescent sisters in Cleopatra want very much to be taken seriously. Their harmonies on Steppin' Out are nice enough, and lead sis Cleo has a rich voice, but there's an uncomfortable dissonance between the adult-ish sound, from producers Dallas Austin and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and the lyrics, seemingly culled from fourth-grade mash notes (''www.com, 'cause your loving is a bomb!''). The end to this awkward phase can't come too soon. C
