The Wisdom of Harry, a.k.a. Brit indie-rock auteur Pete Astor, loves sonic exotica slithery guitars, snake-rattle percussion, low-tech electronics. When they're applied to these compositions, which sound more like murmurs (even his voice is a throaty whisper), he evokes an alt-rock cabaret set in a haunted castle. There are too many cryptic instrumentals, but once Astor opens his mouth, he also opens the door to a very atmospheric House of Binary. B+
