Wonderbrows: Star Arches

The eyebrows have it. Faces like Marilyn Monroe's ''were famous because of two things: gorgeous lipstick and beautiful brows,'' says Anastasia Soare, one of a cadre of arch-shaping experts stars can count on to give a pluck. In fact, next spring Soare, whose high-wattage client list includes Oprah Winfrey, Drew Barrymore, and Cameron Diaz, will add stencils modeled on famous brows (Denise Richards, Jennifer Lopez, and Madonna are all candidates) to her Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics line. Makeup-artist-to-the-stars Robyn Cosio offers her arch take in her book, The Eyebrow, while brow-shaping guru Eliza Petrescu has her own boutique at NYC's Avon Centre Salon & Spa, where she grooms such clients as Natasha Richardson and Halle Berry. Meanwhile, Senna Cosmetics creator Eugenia Weston will stage ''About Face'' workshops at Nordstrom and Marshall Field's department stores nationwide with a special focus on brows. Why the brow beating? ''If a star's brows aren't well groomed, it looks like they've neglected themselves,'' says makeup artist Laura Geller, who shapes Susan Sarandon, Jodie Foster, and Playboy Playmates. And that would raise some eyebrows.
