Music Single Review: ''Rock DJ'' (2012)

EW's GRADE
B

Details Lead Performance: Robbie Williams; Genre: R&B

Contrary to its title, Robbie Williams' new single ''Rock DJ'' is neither an homage to rock nor a dance-club thumper. Instead it's a polite, midtempo stab at silky soul: utterly disposable if it weren't for Williams' audacious references to drugs and oral sex, which lend it a sleazy authenticity. Pleasant — and no match for its gory video, in which the ever-cheeky Brit literally tears himself down to muscle, vein, and bone to seduce a female DJ. It's blood-see TV. B
