Echoes of Crowded House resonate through this first album by the son of hallowed British folkies Richard and Linda Thompson. Like House's Finn brothers, Teddy is a tortured romantic with a wan, sensitive style. Rufus Wainwright adds some poignant harmonies and Teddy's dad contributes a few of his brilliant corkscrew guitar solos. But with his inconsolable voice and humdrum melodies, Thompson mostly sounds mopey and bruised. C+
