Putnam went out with guns firing to promote The Bear and the Dragon (2 million copies in print), booking the grumbly former insurance broker on the Today show, Late Night With Conan O'Brien, NBC Nightly News, Larry King Live, and CNN Morning News. Fantasy series author Terry Goodkind will have to cast a serious spell to dethrone this beast of a book. Our advice: Just grin and Bear it.
