While the numbers for the tape-delayed Olympics took a precipitous dip after Friday night's opening ceremonies, the Sydney Games still took gold, silver, and bronze honors in the weekly rankings. Although most networks postponed their season premieres until after the Olympics, UPN launched its Monday lineup early, with promising results. ABC refugee The Hughleys (69th) led the way, beating reruns of Fox's Ally McBeal (84th) and The WB's Roswell (103rd) at 9 p.m. UPN's new sex-com Girlfriends (81st), as well as veterans Moesha (82nd) and The Parkers (71st), trailed D.L. Hughley's show, which got a boost from a cameo by Survivor's Gervase Peterson. Speaking of the island, CBS' plan to counterprogram the Olympics with Survivor repeats seems to be backfiring: The first two episodes washed up in 74th and 75th place, respectively.
