In 1982, a congressional candidate (Crudup) is haunted by visions of an allegedly deceased hippie chick (Connelly) who raised his consciousness -- among other things -- during the Nixon Era. Director Keith Gordon (A Midnight Clear) achieves an often-impressive intimacy with his actors, but this visually enticing parable is ultimately as evanescent as Connelly's Kentucky accent. B-
