With his near sound-alike voice and menace-to-society persona (he has been charged with attempted murder in the Puffy/Lopez club shoot-out), the 20-year-old Shyne wants to be the next Notorious B.I.G. But his crime tales lack the insight, pathos, and humor that made B.I.G. so entertaining and important. Tracks by Puffy's top-shelf production team make the set Shyne a fine speaker-thumpin' listen. Still, it's no B.I.G. deal. C+
