Reel World: News From Hollywood

'Friends''s Matt LeBlanc will star in the cross-dressing drama 'All the Queen's Men,' while Lisa Kudrow will star in 'Marci X'

DRESSED TO KILL Apparently Matt LeBlanc got a wee bit inspired by the stylin' Charlie's Angels after playing Lucy Liu's boyfriend in the upcoming flick. The actor is now commuting between the Friends set and Hungary, where he's starring as a cross-dressing World War II spy in All the Queen's Men, opposite British actor (and transvestite) Eddie Izzard. ''I think in the wrong hands, it could be very campy,'' says LeBlanc, who was convinced by director Stefan Ruzowitzky (The Inheritors) that there could be dignity in drag. ''But the stakes [of the plot]are so high — if we get caught, we're dead — so I think it's okay. We're not just a bunch of guys running around in dresses.'' As for naming his female celebrity look-alike, LeBlanc skirts the issue, saying, ''I wouldn't want to offend anyone.'' ...In other Friends news, Lisa Kudrow tells Entertainment Weekly that her next starring role will be in Marci X, a movie ''about a JAP-y girl who gets involved in the rap world.'' The script was penned by Paul Rudnick (Addams Family Values).

FURTHERMORE Joaquin Phoenix will star in Gregor Jordan's Buffalo Soldiers, based on the book by Robert O'Connor about U.S. soldiers stationed in West Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall ... Uma Thurman is reportedly in talks to star in Brian De Palma's Femme Fatale, about a woman with a sordid past ... Two college students, Thomas Lee and Jason Brannon, are Hollywood's latest finds, thanks to their mock music video, Star Wars Gangsta Rap Movie, which landed on the desk of a Universal producer via a well-connected friend in New York. They're likely to make their feature debut with Sherlock Homey, a mistaken-identity comedy about a hustler passing as a detective.
