Playing a Chinese imperial guard dispatched to America's Wild West to rescue a kidnapped princess (Lucy Liu), Chan displays his time-tested flair for physical comedy and imaginatively staged fights. But it's Wilson, as a hapless outlaw, who makes this very funny buddy-movie work: His goofy, low-key charm ropes in and tames his costar's manic energy. Thanks to its pair of aces, Shanghai Noon deals a winning hand. B+
