Mixing Love and Basketball is the ultimate challenge for b-ballers Quincy (Epps) and Monica (Lathan), who grow up denying their mutual attraction, finally connect as college players, then separate to chase their hoop dreams. The love story's a little too TV-movie simple, but when it deals with these kids as athletes, the film gets inside the game as few sports movies have. Lathan's breakout performance, as a passionate grrrl point guard, alone makes this worth renting. B+
