A damn near unwatchable mess from Like Water for Chocolate director Alfonso Arau, Pieces is less remarkable for its plot -- about a severed hand that brings miracles to a flyspeck Mexican town -- than for its grossly overacting all-star cast. In addition to Allen and Schwimmer (as a randy priest), you'll glimpse Sharon Stone, Fran Drescher, Kiefer Sutherland, Lily Tomlin, Cheech Marin, Kathy Kinney, Lou Diamond Phillips, Elliott Gould, Andy Dick, Hector Elizondo, and on and on. No matter: This is one of those deals where the filming appears to have been a party -- and the film itself is the hangover. D-
