Symphony for Dot Matrix Printers

EW's GRADE
B-

Leave it to Canadians to find the beauty in white noise. [The User] is an ''artists' collective'' that has a traveling exhibition that uses computers to control an orchestra of dot matrix printers. The obnoxious, hypnotic ree-roo-ree-roo that filled workplaces before the advent of laser and ink-jet printers has never sounded better. It's just too bad we can't experience more of it; the Symphony for Dot Matrix Printers site (www.sat.qc.ca/theuser/dotmatrix/en/intro.html) has only four sample clips. B-
