Randy Travis's first Christian album, Inspirational Journey, takes off like a house afire, with a divine mix of honky-tonk, gospel, and bluegrass. But midway, it deteriorates into Nashville formula, with simplistic homilies, overblown production, and a lackluster star turn from Mr. and Mrs. Waylon Jennings. The album's salvation is Travis's exquisite, quavering baritone, from his mouth to God's ear. C+
