The Legend of Bagger Vance may have been set during the Depression, but the Oct. 29 premiere (and after-party at Manhattan's Guastavino's restaurant) had all the elements of a ritzy jazz-era affair: Will Smith and his entourage stepped out in tweed suits with matching spectator shoes while Charlize Theron (with beau Third Eye Blind's Stephan Jenkins) wore a gauzy mauve confection that would have turned any self-respecting flapper chartreuse with envy. Matt Damon and Robert Redford held court while guests (including Harvey Weinstein and Jason Lee) nibbled on grilled shrimp and foie gras mousse. There was even a delicious bit of scandal: ''They're here to pick up Will, right? On those drug charges?'' Theron joked as sirens began to wail in the background. Gatsby would've loved it.
