Josie and the Pussycats without the familiar theme song? It's enough to make you cough up a hair ball. But the movie starring Tara Reid, Rachael Leigh Cook, and Rosario Dawson may debut April 6 without its famously fluffy title tune (''Josie and the Pussycats/Long tails and ears for hats/Guitars for sharps and flats''). The producers have yet to come to terms with copyright owner Warner Music. ''Not going to happen,'' predicts Cook. A Universal spokeswoman says negotiations continue. For her part, Josie writer-director Deborah Kaplan is willing to give up without a catfight. ''The theme song was stupid,'' she says. ''A girl band singing about themselves it's not that appetizing.''
