Details Lead Performance: Spoon

Austin's Spoon is all about stealth, allowing hooks -- whether a fuzzy guitar squiggle or jaunty piano plunk -- to creep into each song. And though Spoon's approach can feel calculated, Girls' melding of new wave and indie pop literally sounds timeless -- it could've been released at any point in the last 25 years and still sound contemporary.
