In pre-Crimean War Russia, pretty boy naif Vladimir (Disturbing Behavior's Stahl) has a major jones for flaxen-tressed princess Zinaida (Dunst), a demoiselle whose winsome ways and coquettish manner thinly mask a sordid secret. Lover's Prayer, an adaptation that merges stories by Chekhov and Turgenev, reduces costar (and current Oscar nominee) Julie Walters to a screeching harpy and is burdened with lumbering narration (''All of a sudden, I liked me''), making this period piece so appalling and self-absorbed that it evokes the title of a current Dunst film: Get Over It.
