Produced by Oprah Winfrey (natch), this Emmy-winning adaptation of Mitch Albom's best-seller manages to skirt violin-drenched sentimentality -- yet still hit you right in the tear ducts. As dying professor Morrie Schwartz, Lemmon teeters between hamminess and profundity; meanwhile, Azaria, as Albom, conveys remarkable depth with a minimum of fuss. Serious actors, serious issues (fear, death, love)...be ready for serious conversations when the tape ends. B+
