Fishburne and Welliver -- as hoods who are half brothers -- botch a drug scam and retreat, invariably, to an invariably gritty hideout. Enter Mamet-style monologues and fierce yelling about loyalty. Fishburne adapted this, his feature directorial debut, from his play Riff Raff, and there's a staginess to this crime drama that sinks under the weight of its mood. C+
