Drag-queen playwright Charles Busch (Vampire Lesbians of Sodom) was deconstructing the teen horror genre long before Neve Campbell squealed in a ''new'' era in self-aware slashing, but it took almost 15 years for his gory Gidget send-up to make the leap from stage to screen. Though it wasn't really worth the wait (the high camp isn't quite high enough to justify the sub-John Waters production values), you won't want to miss the fish-belly-white Nicholas Brendon (Buffy's Xander) and his blue-screen surf scenes -- now, that's a scream. B-
