Knife throwing has never been so erotic as it is in director Patrice Leconte's romantic French fable. Sexy Paradis is the girl who wants to jump off a Paris bridge, and Auteuil plays the circus performer who rescues her. Together, thanks to an uncanny telepathic connection, their fortunes improve. Handsomely filmed in Felliniesque black and white, Girl on the Bridge always looks sharp. But its offbeat, far-fetched plot sometimes goes over the edge.
