Army wife Gabriela (Rosie Perez) is driven mad by the desert, isolation, and the looming violence of her husband Benito's (John Ortiz) job. As she and her fresh-from-the-field spouse circle, spit, and try to save their marriage, things get hallucinatory, fueled by a barrage of words, words, words. The verbiage in References To Salvador Dali Make Me Hot is cumbersome, but there's something hypnotic about Jose Rivera's play, which is like a dream feverish, gaudy, and edged with cold menace.
