Pond isn't the best outdoorsy word to describe these Philly art rockers; their waves of ravishing guitar squall are more like hurricanes in slow motion. The band's sixth album, Dilate, loosens up a bit blending in benumbed-siren voices and Indian-music tunings but never strays far from bewitching instrumental drones. For those patient enough to endure it, Dilate is an anesthetic high without the drugs.
