Okay, so as creepy catchphrases go, ''Someone's at the door...'' didn't quite have the shelf life of ''The truth is out there.'' But American Gothic (Sci-Fi Channel, Fridays, 8-9 p.m.) still stands as one of the spookiest dramas of the decade. An unfortunate victim of CBS' ill-fated 1995-96 attempt to attract a hip, young audience (remember Central Park West?), Gothic starred Gary Cole as Lucas Buck, a small-town South Carolina sheriff who just might be...Satan! His spine-chilling performance was almost as eerie as his dead-on impression of Robert Reed in the Brady Bunch movies. Two other Gothic cast members have since moved on to bigger and better things: Lucas Black (an orphan who fell under the spell of Cole's evil lawman) melted Billy Bob Thornton's heart in Sling Blade, and Paige Turco (Black's crusading-journalist cousin) landed high-profile recurring roles on NYPD Blue and Party of Five. Sadly, the show's most beguiling scene-stealer, Brenda Bakke (Black's slutty schoolteacher), hasn't been as visible lately. As you may recall, the scariest fact about Gothic is that it was created by ex-teen idol (and Hardy Boy) Shaun ''Da Doo Ron Ron'' Cassidy.
