DECONSTRUCTING HARRY (R) Woody Allen's most bracing movie of the '90s. He plays Harry Block, a Man- hattan novelist who's a scoundrel of self-gratification. Harry pops pills and guzzles whiskey, screws around on his girlfriends and wives, and sleeps with whores because he finds the impersonality sexy. Deconstructing Harry is Allen's naughty-boy confessional movie, a disquietingly candid and funny portrait of a pathological narcissist. The film has a beautifully crafted sense of play, with bits of Harry's stories woven into the events of his life, yet we also glimpse his romantic soullessness in pitiless detail. A-
