Though they worship the glamour and grit of the Rolling Stones, Royal Trux lack the chops to pull off a convincing imitation on Singles, Live, Unreleased. Good thing: Instead of lamely aping familiar blues riffs (remember the Black Crowes?), the band strips away the Stones' now-boilerplate rock cliches and revels in their raw, disorienting essence. RT's self-indulgence can be rough goingespecially if you have a low tolerance for guitar noisebut this two-CD collection of obscure oddities frequently finds the band at its fractured best. A-
