MARCY PLAYGROUND ''Sex and Candy'' (Capitol) You might think that it's tough to make sex or candy sound dull, but this single does. Marcy Playground thankfully avoid alternative angst but haven't come up with a replacement. The simple bass, drum, and guitar arrangement is pleasant, John Wozniak's tousled vocals have a sleepy intimacy, but there's no song for them to cohere around. So they end up sounding like Violent Femmes, only minus the passion. C-
