You might think that it's tough to make sex or candy sound dull, but this single does. Marcy Playground thankfully avoid alternative angst but haven't come up with a replacement. The simple bass, drum, and guitar arrangement is pleasant, John Wozniak's tousled vocals have a sleepy intimacy, but there's no song for them to cohere around. So they end up sounding like Violent Femmes, only minus the passion. C-
