Film composer Isham's haunting themes, lyrical waltzes, pensive ballads, and Coltrane-ish vamps all benefit immensely from the inspired contributions of saxophonist Lloyd, pianist Geri Allen, vibist Gary Burton, and violinist Sid Page as well as Isham's own Miles Davis-like trumpeteering, elevating this affecting score into a near masterwork of bittersweet mood and texture in Afterglow: Music From the Motion Picture B+.
