Tubthumping

Details Lead Performance: Chucklebutt

Tubthumping's not a song that reminds you of the good times; it's not a song that reminds you of the better times — it's a song that reminds you of...another song. This carbon copy of Chumbawamba's album-only hit, performed by studio musicians, is designed to trick the undiscerning consumer. After repeated listenings, though, the seams show: The tempo's too frantic; the vocals are off; the faux cockney accents sound stiff. Still, it's a dadaist perversity that might even appeal to Chumbawamba's anarchist sensibility. D
