Blues Brothers 2000 (1998)

Blues Brothers 2000 is a mixed bag o' blues and soul. For every inspired novelty (Dr. John gargling his way through Donovan's "Season of the Witch"), there's an abominably bad idea (Aretha Franklin failing to top herself on what amounts to "R-E-S-P-E-C-T '98"). At least B.B. King, Bo Diddley, and the late Junior Wells help offset the vaguely distasteful air of minstrelsy that's always surrounded the Blues Brothers concept. B-
